Tuition Tuition is based per year and is a flat fee regardless of the number of lesson, and is split up into 3 installments for convenience, due the weeks of: September 8th, November 18th, and February 17th. Each installment is to be paid on the first lesson of each installment period by check, money order, or cash. Card payment is available with an additional 4% fee. Family Discount: A $5 family discount will be applied for each additional child. Receipts are not issued. If payment is not received by the end of the month, a $10.00 late charge will be added, and will be added each month tuition is past due. Please make sure your payments are correct. Minimal overpayments will not be credited and will be considered a gratuity. Never leave payments on the desk, please hand them in directly to Miss Lori, or Miss Kasie between classes! We realize sudden financial issues do arise. Please come to us with such issues and we can work out a payment plan. Tuition does not just include class time, it includes the hours of class prep, lesson planning, choreographing time, costume picking, etc. done daily. For some classes, choreography and preparing for recital is done as early as November, and every student that drops out forces teachers to redo hours worth of choreography. For these reason, tuition will not be refunded if a child decides to drop out. If a student does decide to drop out, Miss Kasie must be notified by the last day of class in December, or you will be billed for the remaining tuition installment. Yes, we will still be holding classes on President’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, etc. Bad weather: If Mesabi East Schools are canceled or dismissed due to bad weather, dance will also be canceled. Girls: must wear form-fitting dance or athletic attire that covers the knees with leggings or tights. This includes any combination of one-piece leotard, sports bra, fitted top, leggings, tights, Ballet skirts or dance shorts. baggy shirts, baggy pants, or athletic shorts are not permitted with the exception of Hip Hop. Dancers may wear form-fitting sweaters or athletic sweaters at the start of class if desired until warmups are completed. Hair: must be pulled back securely off the face and neck in a bun-type style before entering class, to keep hair out of eyes when doing turns. (preschool and kindergarten may wear a pony instead of a bun if desired) Boys: athletic pants (no jeans) and a fitted t-shirt. A limited number of shoe fittings may be done between classes once the season starts. Ballet shoes are to be worn during the ballet portion of class (girls-pink shoes, boys- black). We prefer parents not purchase the target or other retail version of ballet shoes as they are much stiffer and limit foot flexibility. Tap shoes (black) are to be worn during the tap portion of class. The studio has available for purchase the shoe style we feel works best. Tan Jazz shoes (available at the studio) should be worn for all jazz classes. For Musical theatre, it is preferred that dancers wear jazz shoes. Hip Hop dancers should wear clean (not worn outdoors) flexible sneaker similar to converse (Target and Walmart offer a cheaper alternative that works great!). For Acro, dancers should be barefoot. In Technique class, dancers should wear either ballet shoes or be bare foot. Street shoes are not to be worn in the studio as the dirt from them may damage the dance floor. Teen team members must take a ballet AND jazz class, as well as at least 1 extra class (Hip Hop, Acro, Musical Theater, or Technique) for a total of at least 3 hours of weekly classes that do not include competition or nutcracker rehearsal. This team will be attending 1 convention and 4 competitions. Elite Teen - for preteen/teen dancers who wish to compete at a dedicated advanced. Elite team members must be taking both ballet and jazz, and at least 3 additional classes (does not include competition or nutcracker rehearsal) for a total minimum of 5 hours of weekly classes. This team will be attending 1 convention and 5 competitions. schedules allowing, I would like to have a couple rehearsals in August to get a jump start on choreography, which we can work around each team’s schedule. The Legacy Competition Team is a dedicated group of dancers working to be an elite representation of the studio, it’s teachers, and our area! We strive to provide a positive, yet demanding experience that will push our dancers to strive for their full potential! We are looking for dancers (and parents) who are dedicated, well behaved, positive, responsible, and follow directions. As one dancer missing may mean hours of re-working and re-choreographing, students on the Competition Team must decide that it will be their FIRST priority and take precedence over other sports/activities. In the case of illnesses, etc, a max of 4 competition class and 7 days of class absences are allowed throughout the year. EVERY class is important to a dancers’ training, and each absence (excused or not) puts a dancer behind the rest of his/her team. Dancers are encouraged to share any ideas for additional dances such as song choice, story line, style, costume, etc, however, all choreography will be done by a legacy staff member, and Miss Kasie/Mr. Demetri have final say in any choreography, song, costume, etc. choice. Dancers will receive 2 free sessions for extra dance choreography (1/2 hour for solos, 45 min. for duets or trios). Each additional session will be $5 per dancer. Dancers, please come to the audition in regular dance attire (leotard, tights, skirt or dance shorts, or tight fitting top and leggings with hair in a bun) wearing either jazz, ballet, or lyrical shoes. Please arrive a few minutes early to allow time to fill out an audition form. Dancers will do a brief warm-up, followed by some across the floor movements and learning a short combo. Those team members who DO NOT complete our competition season in good standing will forfeit their deposit. The competition team does many fundraisers throughout the season to help cover group expenses such as team jackets, group dance entrance fees, and group costumes (which are returned at the end of the season). Some NOT covered expenses involved with competition team may include but are not limited to: hotel rooms, entrance fees and costumes for extra optional solos/duets/trios, dance shoes, and partial workshop fees. Nutcracker dances will be taught to ALL Kindergarten and up dancers in their regular class as part of the curriculum. Dancers who have completed at least 1 year of Pointe should bring pointe shoes to the audition! Note: Soloists will be required to attend rehearsals outside of regular class time. Beginning at the age of 4, Kasie spent 14 years training at Debby’s Dance Studio in Biwabik, MN, where she became an assistant teacher to learn the tricks of the trade, as well as a member of Debby’s Competition Team, competing through the state and receiving various judges choice and overall high score awards. After graduating, Kasie was chosen to tour across the country with the Dance Olympus Convention, assisting world-renowned choreographers and teacher, then going on to train full-time with the Minnesota Ballet school and company for 4 years. With the Ballet, she performed both on tour and locally in shows such as: The Nutcracker, A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream, Giselle, Hansel and Gretel, Sleeping Beauty, and excerpts from La Bayadère as well as several original pieces. Kasie then went on to teach at Range Academy of Dance and Downtown Dance Academy before becoming owner of her own studio, where she produces an annual Nutcracker show and spring recital, and runs her own Competition team who have won various choreography, high score, judges choice, and sportsmanship awards. Kasie is also a member of the Mesabi Musical Theatre board, choreographing for their productions of “Crazy for You,” “Xanadu,” “Matilda,” “Willy Wonka,” and “Oklahoma.” It is Miss Kasie’s mission to share her love of dance and the arts with her students and community, and instill in her students the self-confidence and awareness of their bodies to be a successful, happy individual, no matter what career they wish to pursue! As a self-trained Urban Hip Hop dancer, he is very passionate about the arts, and has an exceptional eye for chorographical flow. Demetri has also helped with backstage, lighting, and sound for community theatre productions and for Legacy Studio of Dance.
